The Tory government insists it won't go back to counting seniors' assets before admitting them to nursing homes, a controversial practice that convinced some elderly couples to divorce rather than risk losing their savings and properties.

Questioned by interim Liberal leader Victor Boudreau in the legislature, the premier said New Brunswick wouldn't return to the unpopular policy that was yanked five years ago.
