Ambulance fees confusing seniors

MONCTON - An advocate for the elderly in New Brunswick says many seniors are confused about the changes to ambulance fees. And Cecile Cassista says some seniors are putting their own health at risk because they're afraid to call for help. Three months ago, the Liberal government reinstated fees for ambulance services. Seniors who carry a provincial Prescription Drug Card and receive the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement are exempt from the $130 fee. But Cassista says many seniors who are considered subsidized have received invoices from the province asking them to pay for ambulance service.
