But not everyone shared the enthusiasm. Cécile Cassista of the Coalition for Seniors and Nursing Homes Residents' Rights said she's skeptical of what will happen to the announcement if the Liberals are voted out.
"We're talking about seniors who really get out there and vote," she said.
"I don't see a vision as to whether this will be carried on if there is a change in government."
She also said the government should boost its resources for assisted living, home care and ensuring care workers make fair wages.
