Gov't lacks seniors plan: advocate - Published Friday February 12th, 2010

Investment in nursing homes is needed, but demand already outstrips planned new spaces, say critics

Cecile Cassista, executive director of the Coalition for Seniors and Nursing Homes Residents' Rights, says the recent investment in nursing homes is welcome and much-needed, but the government should be taking a more comprehensive approach to seniors' care.

"The nursing homes are long overdue, but is this the answer?" she asks, suggesting the government should be looking more at what seniors and aging people in New Brunswick want.
"They're not listening to what the grassroots people say. They want to live in their home."
